I was recently reading a blog where they were discussing the cost of knitting as a hobby. I agree that knitting is only as expensive as you make it. I find it funny that so many people have hobbies they spend large sums on but choose to pick on knitting.

Anyone care to comment on an article that says essentially that illegal labor is required to maintain our nation? http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/CollegeAndFamily/RaiseKids/RaiseKidsDyn.aspx?cp-documentid=8381078>1=33004
Yes, there might be some temporary discomfort but then I see it as a boon because we will have less healthcare costs and lost revenue from imcome taxes. Try to convince me that most illegal aliens pay income taxes and thier employers pay all the necessary taxes they are supposed to pay. I dont buy it. Now I know this is a sensitive topic so be civil folks.

| Amish bread |
[22 Jun 2008|10:14pm] |
I made Amish bread today. I haven't had or made the stuff in over a decade. I used a starter I got from wendini . I used the instructions she gave me with it to bring it to baking day, but since I didnt have the instant vanilla pudding that the baking recipe called for I used one from allrecipies.com. It turned out great and took only about 50 mins of baking time. I made a loaf and a fraction. I shared it with mistressannie and she agrees it is good.

I am going back to college to try to get a duh-gree. Right now since I'm in the summer mini semesters I'm just taking one course on Java programming but I think thats all I can do right now because it meets Mon-thurs for a little over two hours. It's hard to work full time and still go to school. Ugh!. I did take my first test yesterday and while I'm sure the programs I wrote work, I don't think they meet what the teacher was looking for. We'll see how much he marks off because I didnt write it just the way he wanted.

Well thats a nebulous question, but maybe it'll get me writing. If the question is which I'd rather be I'd say werewolf. They are scary but they are also containable. I see them as a symbol of mans struggle with himself. Violence Vs. civility. Viciousness vs. Control. Oh and the whole blood sucking part with Vampires is icky.

It occurs to me that crafty people see the world differently. We see the world as what we can make and how we can use things. Some people don't understand the purpose of things unless its stamped or labelled as such. Example: One day at work one of the guys needed a new hole in his belt. I told him I could do it for him and he was suprised. He wondered why I carried a leather punch with me. I thought to myself anything that can make a uniform hold in leather is by extention a leather punch, even if it doesnt have " ACME Leather Punch" stamped into it. Non-craftys are so odd.

Does anyone else find it odd they are sueing a designer not for making the pattern but for what the people that make it are doing. I think Ford should be sued for bad drivers. The Doctor causes trouble.

To all the people out there who ever have or ever will call technical support: "Nothing" means "Nothing". If you tell me you see nothing I'll assume you are eeither blind or actually see nothing. "Seeing nothing" does not mean you see a message that you are eaiter too lazy or too confused to read. I don't expect you to interpret what you read, thats my job, but you should at least be able to read. Failing literacy at least be able to spell it out. Geesh!

| Unreleased technologies |
[31 Mar 2008|10:26am] |
|
As Im reviewing old technologies that I've seen ni past years (fuel cells, biodiesel, etc.) I'm noticing that some of these ideas surface, then disappear for 2-5 years. I'm curious whatever happened to them. Nanotech biodiesel reactors, Algae produced oils for biodiesel, cheap fuel cell cars, Photonic and quantum based computing. Where is my flying car that gets 100+ miles to the gallon and computer that runs my house, dern it?

Borrowed from a religious forum I've been visiting. "It's a thrill to see a massive bolt of lightening - when it hits someone ELSE in the ass."
That just tickled my funny bone.

| Interesting Tech |
[22 Mar 2008|11:03pm] |
I just found a post talking about making a light brighter than a street lamp on a bumb the size of a bit of rice. Upon this it also uses only a small amount of energy (comparatively). Check it out and see what you think http://news.zdnet.com/2422-13568_22-192842.html

I was reading an articleabout a tax cut that says in part: "...more than 70 percent, according to an analysis by Congress’ Joint Tax Committee — would go to individuals who pay taxes." lets study what that really says "30 percent will go to individuals who DON'T pay taxes." Am I reading this correctly?

| Hydrogen generation |
[24 Jan 2008|11:38am] |
I found an interesting presentation about some current technologies in hydrogen generation for fuel alternatives. It's a little info heavy for the casual observer, but if you have a chemistry bent like me, you may want to check it out. http://hydrogen.ecn.purdue.edu/2007.05.01-Woodall.mp4
Disclaimer: IF you must try this at home, please do your homework first to avoid an entergetic energy release (ka-boom) Boys and Girls.

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Unsuccessful rebellions, indeed, generally establish the encroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. An observation of this truth should render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions as not to discourage them too much. It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of the government." Thomas Jefferson Source:Letter to James Madison, Jan 30, 1787
"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ... And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." Thomas Jefferson Source: November 13, 1787, letter to William S. Smith, quoted in Padover's Jefferson On Democracy

I finished some fingerless gloves I was working on this week. It didnt take me long at all, Especially compared to the size 0 needle sock beat I slayed just before it. I figure as long as I stay on sizes 4 and above my sanity may be saved.
